{\b Maschil of Asaph.}\par\par\tab Give ear, O my people, to my law:\par\tab Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.


So teach us to number our days,\par\tab That we may get us a heart of wisdom.


To receive instruction in wise dealing,\par\tab In righteousness and justice and equity;


Apply thy heart unto instruction,\par\tab And thine ears to the words of knowledge.


These also are {\i sayings} of the wise.\par\par\tab To have respect of persons in judgment is not good.


My son, forget not my law;\par\tab But let thy heart keep my commandments:


The words of the wise are as goads; and as nails well fastened are {\i the words of} the masters of assemblies, {\i which} are given from one shepherd.


I turned about, and my heart {\i was set} to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the reason {\i of things}, and to know that wickedness is folly, and that foolishness is madness.


When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes),


All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: {\i there is} a time wherein one man hath power over another to his hurt.


Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.


While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
