But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and Jehovah wrought a great victory.


Thou art he that giveth salvation unto kings;\par\tab Who rescueth David his servant from the hurtful sword.


He delighteth not in the strength of the horse:\par\tab He taketh no pleasure in the legs of a man.


Some {\i trust} in chariots, and some in horses;\par\tab But we will make mention of the name of Jehovah our God.


They are bowed down and fallen;\par\tab But we are risen, and stand upright.


But thou, O Jehovah, art a shield about me;\par\tab My glory and the lifter up of my head.


Salvation belongeth unto Jehovah:\par\tab Thy blessing be upon thy people. {\i Selah\par


God is unto us a God of deliverances;\par\tab And unto Jehovah the Lord belongeth escape from death.


I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.


Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong, but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek Jehovah!


Truly in vain is {\i the help that is looked for} from the hills, the tumult on the mountains: truly in Jehovah our God is the salvation of Israel.


but thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
