(Let me be weighed in an even balance,\par\tab That God may know mine integrity);


For he flattereth himself in his own eyes,\par\tab That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.


The way of a fool is right in his own eyes;\par\tab But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.


All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes;\par\tab But Jehovah weigheth the spirits.


There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,\par\tab But the end thereof are the ways of death.


The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold;\par\tab But Jehovah trieth the hearts.


Most men will proclaim every one his own kindness;\par\tab But a faithful man who can find?


If thou sayest, Behold, we knew not this;\par\tab Doth not he that weigheth the hearts consider it?\par\tab And he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it?\par\tab And shall not he render to every man according to his work?


There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes,\par\tab And yet are not washed from their filthiness.


I, Jehovah, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

But Jehovah said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for Jehovah seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looketh on the heart.
