Are not Abanah and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.


He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets;\par\tab But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.


A fool's vexation is presently known;\par\tab But a prudent man concealeth shame.


He that is slow to anger is of great understanding;\par\tab But he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.


A wrathful man stirreth up contention;\par\tab But he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.


He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty;\par\tab And he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.


The beginning of strife is {\i as} when one letteth out water:\par\tab Therefore leave off contention, before there is quarrelling.


Say not thou, I will recompense evil:\par\tab Wait for Jehovah, and he will save thee.
