Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold\par\tab Wondrous things out of thy law.


That the wise man may hear, and increase in learning;\par\tab And that the man of understanding may attain unto sound counsels:


A faithful witness will not lie;\par\tab But a false witness uttereth lies.


Go into the presence of a foolish man,\par\tab And thou shalt not perceive {\i in him} the lips of knowledge.


A scoffer loveth not to be reproved;\par\tab He will not go unto the wise.


Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom,\par\tab Seeing he hath no understanding?


Wisdom is before the face of him that hath understanding;\par\tab But the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.


A fool hath no delight in understanding,\par\tab But only that his heart may reveal itself.


Wisdom is too high for a fool:\par\tab He openeth not his mouth in the gate.


Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit?\par\tab There is more hope of a fool than of him.


All the words of my mouth are in righteousness;\par\tab There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.


They are all plain to him that understandeth,\par\tab And right to them that find knowledge.


To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.


The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what manner of wisdom is in them?


If any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not yet as he ought to know;


But if any of you lacketh wisdom, let him ask of God, who giveth to all liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
