And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths; none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.


But the captain of the guard left of the poorest of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.


And Satan answered Jehovah, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.


If there be laid on him a ransom, then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.


There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing:\par\tab There is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great wealth.


The light of the righteous rejoiceth;\par\tab But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.


The crown of the wise is their riches;\par\tab {\i But} the folly of fools is {\i only} folly.


He will not regard any ransom;\par\tab Neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.\par

For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?


For the life is more than the food, and the body than the raiment.
