but they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.\par


Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.


He will bless them that fear Jehovah,\par\tab Both small and great.


Great peace have they that love thy law;\par\tab And they have no occasion of stumbling.


Moreover by them is thy servant warned:\par\tab In keeping them there is great reward.


Who can discern {\i his} errors?\par\tab Clear thou me from hidden {\i faults}.


He that feared the word of Jehovah among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:


But ye have set at nought all my counsel,\par\tab And would none of my reproof:


Hope deferred maketh the heart sick;\par\tab But when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.


Evil pursueth sinners;\par\tab But the righteous shall be recompensed with good.


He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good;\par\tab And whoso trusteth in Jehovah, happy is he.


He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul;\par\tab {\i But} he that is careless of his ways shall die.


For all these things hath my hand made, and {\i so} all these things came to be, saith Jehovah: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.


then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, Thou speakest falsely: Jehovah our God hath not sent thee to say, Ye shall not go into Egypt to sojourn there;


But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they rejected mine ordinances, which if a man keep, he shall live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Because he hath despised the word of Jehovah, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.


Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you.\par


And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, if one rise from the dead.}\par


Look to yourselves, that ye lose not the things which we have wrought, but that ye receive a full reward.
