And when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.


Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thy heart hath lifted thee up: glory thereof, and abide at home; for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?


Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished;\par\tab But he that gathereth by labor shall have increase.


The light of the righteous rejoiceth;\par\tab But the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.


The beginning of strife is {\i as} when one letteth out water:\par\tab Therefore leave off contention, before there is quarrelling.


Hear counsel, and receive instruction,\par\tab That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.


Every purpose is established by counsel;\par\tab And by wise guidance make thou war.


The proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name;\par\tab He worketh in the arrogance of pride.


Go not forth hastily to strive,\par\tab Lest {\i thou know not} what to do in the end thereof,\par\tab When thy neighbor hath put thee to shame.


He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife;\par\tab But he that putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be made fat.


And there arose also a contention among them, which of them was accounted to be greatest.
