And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being such as I, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.


For this cause was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.


Yea, the dogs are greedy, they can never have enough; and these are shepherds that cannot understand: they have all turned to their own way, each one to his gain, from every quarter.


Then Jehovah said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake I unto them: they prophesy unto you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their own heart.


Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they teach you vanity; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Jehovah.


I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.


Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah: Jehovah hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.


And ye have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hearken unto lies.\par


Because with lies ye have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive:


Have ye not seen a false vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, in that ye say, Jehovah saith; albeit I have not spoken?\par


The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet they lean upon Jehovah, and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.


I coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.


and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits: to another {\i divers} kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues:


But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, and he himself is judged of no man.


no brawler, no striker; but gentle, not contentious, no lover of money;


For the bishop must be blameless, as God's steward; not self-willed, not soon angry, no brawler, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre;


Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to {\i the will of} God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;


And in covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose sentence now from of old lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.


Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.


and cinnamon, and spice, and incense, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep; and {\i merchandise} of horses and chariots and slaves; and souls of men.
