to fulfil the word of Jehovah by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed its sabbaths: {\i for} as long as it lay desolate it kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.\par


In those days also saw I the Jews that had married women of Ashdod, of Ammon, {\i and} of Moab:


Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God in marrying foreign women?\par


And in the first day there shall be to you a holy convocation, and in the seventh day a holy convocation; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done by you.


but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:


and thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters play the harlot after their gods, and make thy sons play the harlot after their gods.


Is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?


And it shall be a statute for ever unto you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the home-born, or the stranger that sojourneth among you:


And ye shall make proclamation on the selfsame day; there shall be a holy convocation unto you; ye shall do no servile work: it is a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.


Six days shall work be done: but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation; ye shall do no manner of work: it is a sabbath unto Jehovah in all your dwellings.


And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.


Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a sabbath day:


For judgment {\i is} without mercy to him that hath showed no mercy: mercy glorieth against judgment.\par
