When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh,\par\tab {\i Even} mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.


There is a generation whose teeth are {\i as} swords, and their jaw teeth {\i as} knives,\par\tab To devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.\par


Jehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and the princes thereof: It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses:


what mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind the face of the poor? saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.


that say, {\i The time} is not near to build houses: this {\i city} is the caldron, and we are the flesh.


gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.


Hear this, O ye that would swallow up the needy, and cause the poor of the land to fail,


But of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye strip the robe from off the garment from them that pass by securely {\i as men} averse from war.


Her princes in the midst of her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they leave nothing till the morrow.
