If I have made gold my hope,\par\tab And have said to the fine gold, {\i Thou art} my confidence;


Surely every man walketh in a vain show;\par\tab Surely they are disquieted in vain:\par\tab He heapeth up {\i riches}, and knoweth not who shall gather them.


Trust not in oppression,\par\tab And become not vain in robbery:\par\tab If riches increase, set not your heart {\i thereon}.


If the thief be found breaking in, and be smitten so that he dieth, there shall be no bloodguiltiness for him.


Riches profit not in the day of wrath;\par\tab But righteousness delivereth from death.


How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!\par\tab Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.


For to the man that pleaseth him {\i God} giveth wisdom, and knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that pleaseth God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.\par


Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for he will make an end, yea, a terrible end, of all them that dwell in the land.\par


Jesus said unto him, {\cf6 If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.}


but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:


So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.}\par


Sell that which ye have, and give alms; make for yourselves purses which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief draweth near, neither moth destroyeth.


But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken through.


And when Jesus heard it, he said unto him, {\cf6 One thing thou lackest yet: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.}


And Jesus seeing him said, {\cf6 How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!


Charge them that are rich in this present world, that they be not highminded, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;


Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, {\b I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee.}
