Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas;


Agree with thine adversary quickly, while thou art with him in the way; lest haply the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.


And they seized him, and led him {\i away}, and brought him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed afar off.


Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore unto him, Art thou also {\i one} of his disciples? He denied, and said, I am not.


When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify {\i him}, crucify {\i him}! Pilate saith unto them, Take him yourselves, and crucify him: for I find no crime in him.


The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him; and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to take him.


The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why did ye not bring him?


But the officers that came found them not in the prison; and they returned, and told,


Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them, {\i but} without violence; for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.
