And if he come to see {\i me}, he speaketh falsehood;\par\tab His heart gathereth iniquity to itself:\par\tab When he goeth abroad, he telleth it.


They have prepared a net for my steps;\par\tab My soul is bowed down:\par\tab They have digged a pit before me;\par\tab They are fallen into the midst thereof themselves. {\i Selah


For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul;\par\tab The mighty gather themselves together against me:\par\tab Not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Jehovah.


that make a man an offender in {\i his} cause, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just with a thing of nought.\par


Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.\par


For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce, and we will denounce him, {\i say} all my familiar friends, they that watch for my fall; peradventure he will be persuaded, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.


But the Pharisees went out, and took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.\par


And this I say for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is seemly, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.


For consider him that hath endured such gainsaying of sinners against himself, that ye wax not weary, fainting in your souls.
