If they sin against thee (for there is no man that sinneth not), and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive unto the land of the enemy, far off or near;


And he burnt the house of Jehovah, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burnt he with fire.


But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;


And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.\par


Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye trespass, I will scatter you abroad among the peoples:


And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from {\i those of} every people; neither keep they the king's laws: therefore it is not for the king's profit to suffer them.


And that he would overthrow their seed among the nations,\par\tab And scatter them in the lands.


Thou hast made us like sheep {\i appointed} for food,\par\tab And hast scattered us among the nations.


Thou sellest thy people for nought,\par\tab And hast not increased {\i thy wealth} by their price.

Therefore will I scatter them, as the stubble that passeth away, by the wind of the wilderness.


And I will cause them to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for that which he did in Jerusalem.\par


Hear the word of Jehovah, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off; and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.


A lion is gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations; he is on his way, he is gone forth from his place, to make thy land desolate, that thy cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.


Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land shall become a waste.\par


And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith Jehovah of hosts.\par


I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them.\par


How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people!\par\tab She is become as a widow, that was great among the nations!\par\tab She that was a princess among the provinces is become tributary!


Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, and because of great servitude;\par\tab She dwelleth among the nations, she findeth no rest:\par\tab All her persecutors overtook her within the straits.


Depart ye, they cried unto them, Unclean! depart, depart, touch not!\par\tab When they fled away and wandered, men said among the nations,\par\tab They shall no more sojourn {\i here}.


The anger of Jehovah hath scattered them; he will no more regard them:\par\tab They respected not the persons of the priests, they favored not the elders.\par


And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be a desolation; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.\par


Moreover I sware unto them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries;


And I will scatter thee among the nations, and disperse thee through the countries; and I will consume thy filthiness out of thee.


A third part shalt thou burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and thou shalt take a third part, and smite with the sword round about it; and a third part thou shalt scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.


For, lo, they are gone away from destruction; {\i yet} Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them; their pleasant things of silver, nettles shall possess them; thorns shall be in their tents.


And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.\par


but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.\par


And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led captive into all the nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.\par


And Jehovah will scatter you among the peoples, and ye shall be left few in number among the nations, whither Jehovah shall lead you away.
