The Lord will laugh at him;\par\tab For he seeth that his day is coming.


For I said, Lest they rejoice over me:\par\tab When my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me.


Jehovah hath broken the staff of the wicked, the sceptre of the rulers;


that smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, that ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained.


Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that despoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey.


For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for as often as thou speakest of him, thou waggest the head.


Because ye are glad, because ye rejoice, O ye that plunder my heritage, because ye are wanton as a heifer that treadeth out {\i the grain}, and neigh as strong horses;


Shout against her round about: she hath submitted herself; her bulwarks are fallen, her walls are thrown down; for it is the vengeance of Jehovah: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.


Call together the archers against Babylon, all them that bend the bow; encamp against her round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her; for she hath been proud against Jehovah, against the Holy One of Israel.


Behold, I am against thee, O thou proud one, saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts; for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.

For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water;\par\tab Because the comforter that should refresh my soul is far from me:\par\tab My children are desolate, because the enemy hath prevailed.


She weepeth sore in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks;\par\tab Among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her:\par\tab All her friends have dealt treacherously with her; they are become her enemies.


Let all their wickedness come before thee;\par\tab And do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions:\par\tab For my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.\par


The ways of Zion do mourn, because none come to the solemn assembly;\par\tab All her gates are desolate, her priests do sigh:\par\tab Her virgins are afflicted, and she herself is in bitterness.


Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is become as an unclean thing;\par\tab All that honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness:\par\tab Yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.\par


All that pass by clap their hands at thee;\par\tab They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, {\i saying},\par\tab Is this the city that men called\par\tab The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth?


All thine enemies have opened their mouth wide against thee;\par\tab They hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed her up;\par\tab Certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.


Son of man, because that Tyre hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken {\i that was} the gate of the peoples; she is turned unto me; I shall be replenished, now that she is laid waste:


Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! for the day of Jehovah is near in the valley of decision.


Render unto her even as she rendered, and double {\i unto her} the double according to her works: in the cup which she mingled, mingle unto her double.
