Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom ye desire, behold, he cometh, saith Jehovah of hosts.


For this is he that was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying,\par\tab {\b The voice of one crying in the wilderness,\par\tab Make ye ready the way of the Lord,\par\tab Make his paths straight.}\par


Yea and thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Most High:\par\tab For thou shalt go {\b before the Lord to make ready his ways};


And he confessed, and denied not; and he confessed, I am not the Christ.


He said, I am {\b the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord,} as said Isaiah the prophet.


And they asked him, and said unto him, Why then baptizest thou, if thou art not the Christ, neither Elijah, neither the prophet?


{\i even} he that cometh after me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose.
