My face is red with weeping,\par\tab And on my eyelids is the shadow of death;


For the morning is to all of them as thick darkness;\par\tab For they know the terrors of the thick darkness.\par


{\i Man} setteth an end to darkness,\par\tab And searcheth out, to the furthest bound,\par\tab The stones of obscurity and of thick darkness.


Let that day be darkness;\par\tab Let not God from above seek for it,\par\tab Neither let the light shine upon it.


As for that night, let thick darkness seize upon it:\par\tab Let it not rejoice among the days of the year;\par\tab Let it not come into the number of the months.


There is no darkness, nor thick gloom,\par\tab Where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.


Have the gates of death been revealed unto thee?\par\tab Or hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?

Give glory to Jehovah your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

{\i seek him} that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth (Jehovah is his name);


And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning for an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day.\par
