Should thy boastings make men hold their peace?\par\tab And when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?


Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak;\par\tab And let come on me what will.


Hear now my reasoning,\par\tab And hearken to the pleadings of my lips.


Shall vain words have an end?\par\tab Or what provoketh thee that thou answerest?


How long will ye hunt for words?\par\tab Consider, and afterwards we will speak.


How long will ye vex my soul,\par\tab And break me in pieces with words?


Mark me, and be astonished,\par\tab And lay your hand upon your mouth.


So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.


And shall I wait, because they speak not,\par\tab Because they stand still, and answer no more?


Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise;\par\tab When he shutteth his lips, he is {\i esteemed as} prudent.\par


For a dream cometh with a multitude of business, and a fool's voice with a multitude of words.


Therefore he that is prudent shall keep silence in such a time; for it is an evil time.\par


Ye know {\i this}, my beloved brethren. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
