Blessed be Jehovah out of Zion,\par\tab Who dwelleth at Jerusalem.\par\tab Praise ye Jehovah.


By the rivers of Babylon,\par\tab There we sat down, yea, we wept,\par\tab When we remembered Zion.


Jehovah will reign for ever,\par\tab Thy God, O Zion, unto all generations.\par\tab Praise ye Jehovah.


Let Israel rejoice in him that made him:\par\tab Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.


I hate them that regard lying vanities;\par\tab But I trust in Jehovah.


Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evil-doers, children that deal corruptly! they have forsaken Jehovah, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are estranged {\i and gone} backward.


Cry aloud and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great in the midst of thee is the Holy One of Israel.\par


They come from a far country, from the uttermost part of heaven, even Jehovah, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.\par


For Jehovah is our judge, Jehovah is our lawgiver, Jehovah is our king; he will save us.


Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.


Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.


They are vanity, a work of delusion: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.


Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? why hast thou smitten us, and there is no healing for us? We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and, behold, dismay!


Why shouldest thou be as a man affrighted, as a mighty man that cannot save? Yet thou, O Jehovah, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.\par


Thus saith Jehovah, What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?


for they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.


For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the hills of Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto Jehovah our God.\par


For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have done only that which was evil in my sight from their youth; for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith Jehovah.


Do they provoke me to anger? saith Jehovah; {\i do they} not {\i provoke} themselves, to the confusion of their own faces?


The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.


I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them.\par


It shall be eighteen thousand {\i reeds} round about: and the name of the city from that day shall be, Jehovah is there.\par


And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call.\par


And I will cleanse their blood, that I have not cleansed: for Jehovah dwelleth in Zion.\par


But in mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.


Now why dost thou cry out aloud? Is there no king in thee, is thy counsellor perished, that pangs have taken hold of thee as of a woman in travail?


Jehovah hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the King of Israel, even Jehovah, is in the midst of thee; thou shalt not fear evil any more.


For, behold, I will shake my hand over them, and they shall be a spoil to those that served them; and ye shall know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me.


and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good tidings, that ye should turn from these vain things unto a living God, {\b who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is}:


Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come upon them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?
