and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah his God; he humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet {\i speaking} from the mouth of Jehovah.


But he is in one {\i mind}, and who can turn him?\par\tab And what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.


Shall his recompense be as thou wilt, that thou refusest it?\par\tab For thou must choose, and not I:\par\tab Therefore speak what thou knowest.


And Jehovah said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?


Only know ye for certain that, if ye put me to death, ye will bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof; for of a truth Jehovah hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.\par


But Jeremiah said, They shall not deliver thee. Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of Jehovah, in that which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well with thee, and thy soul shall live.


Behold, all the women that are left in the king of Judah's house shall be brought forth to the king of Babylon's princes, and those women shall say, Thy familiar friends have set thee on, and have prevailed over thee: {\i now that} thy feet are sunk in the mire, they are turned away back.


O Jehovah, do not thine eyes look upon truth? thou hast stricken them, but they were not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.\par


And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear; for they are most rebellious.\par


If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of Jehovah, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; what Jehovah speaketh, that will I speak?


And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed, he shook out his raiment and said unto them, Your blood {\i be} upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.


See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not when they refused him that warned {\i them} on earth, much more {\i shall not} we {\i escape} who turn away from him that {\i warneth} from heaven:
