He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.


But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance.


Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.


but I say unto you, Resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on {\i thy} right cheek, turn to him the other also.


And he said, The God of our fathers hath appointed thee to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth.


Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? and they killed them that showed before of the coming of the Righteous One; of whom ye have now become betrayers and murderers;


Now the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this,\par\tab {\b He was led as a sheep to the slaughter;\par\tab And as a lamb before his shearer is dumb,\par\tab So he openeth not his mouth:}


{\b But my righteous one shall live by faith:\par\tab And if he shrink back, my soul hath no pleasure in him.}


But ye have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and themselves drag you before the judgment-seats?


Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and covet, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war; ye have not, because ye ask not.


{\b And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear?}
