And the light of Israel will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day.


Neither shall there be for Egypt any work, which head or tail, palm-branch or rush, may do.\par


therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly in an instant.


Therefore thus saith Jehovah, Behold, I will lay stumbling-blocks before this people; and the fathers and the sons together shall stumble against them; the neighbor and his friend shall perish.\par


Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall; in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith Jehovah.


The anger of Jehovah hath scattered them; he will no more regard them:\par\tab They respected not the persons of the priests, they favored not the elders.\par


And Jehovah said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease.


And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And {\i Jehovah} said unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah; for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel, that I should in any wise pardon them.


And {\i Jehovah} said, Call his name Lo-ammi; for ye are not my people, and I will not be your {\i God}.\par


So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: at daybreak shall the king of Israel be utterly cut off.\par


Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the dew that passeth early away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the threshing-floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.\par


And thou shalt stumble in the day, and the prophet also shall stumble with thee in the night; and I will destroy thy mother.\par


Israel is swallowed up: now are they among the nations as a vessel wherein none delighteth.


Thus saith Jehovah: As the shepherd rescueth out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued that sit in Samaria in the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.\par


For, behold, Jehovah commandeth, and the great house shall be smitten with breaches, and the little house with clefts.\par


therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou thyself shalt die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.\par


standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.


for in one hour so great riches is made desolate. And every shipmaster, and every one that saileth any whither, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood afar off,


Therefore in one day shall her plagues come, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire; for strong is the Lord God who judged her.
