And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are these with thee? And he said, The children whom God hath graciously given thy servant.


For David said, Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath given rest unto his people; and he dwelleth in Jerusalem for ever:


A seed shall serve him;\par\tab It shall be told of the Lord unto the {\i next} generation.


I am as a wonder unto many;\par\tab But thou art my strong refuge.


Sing praises to Jehovah, who dwelleth in Zion:\par\tab Declare among the people his doings.


For he that maketh inquisition for blood remembereth them;\par\tab He forgetteth not the cry of the poor.


Cry aloud and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great in the midst of thee is the Holy One of Israel.\par


What then shall one answer the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah hath founded Zion, and in her shall the afflicted of his people take refuge.\par


And Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia;


Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for Jehovah of hosts will reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem; and before his elders shall be glory.\par


Yet it pleased Jehovah to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see {\i his} seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Jehovah shall prosper in his hand.


For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings thou abhorrest shall be forsaken.


Then said Jehovah unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fuller's field;


And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said Jehovah unto me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.


And this shall be the sign unto you, saith Jehovah, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:


In their sight shalt thou bear it upon thy shoulder, and carry it forth in the dark; thou shalt cover thy face, that thou see not the land: for I have set thee for a sign unto the house of Israel.\par


and I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment, for a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.


And take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face toward it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.\par


Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou and thy fellows that sit before thee; for they are men that are a sign: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.


Thus saith Jehovah: I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called The city of truth; and the mountain of Jehovah of hosts, The holy mountain.


And all that heard it wondered at the things which were spoken unto them by the shepherds.


and Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this {\i child} is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel; and for a sign which is spoken against;


and they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.


partly, being made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, becoming partakers with them that were so used.


but ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels,
