And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.


He deviseth iniquity upon his bed;\par\tab He setteth himself in a way that is not good;\par\tab He abhorreth not evil.\par


Thy lovingkindness, O Jehovah, is in the heavens;\par\tab Thy faithfulness {\i reacheth} unto the skies.


Because I have called, and ye have refused;\par\tab I have stretched out my hand, and no man hath regarded;


A man of violence enticeth his neighbor,\par\tab And leadeth him in a way that is not good.


Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth; for Jehovah hath spoken: I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.


Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves; every one loveth bribes, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.\par


Woe to the rebellious children, saith Jehovah, that take counsel, but not of me; and that make a league, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin,


For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of Jehovah;


let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.


For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah.


But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, {\i and} himself fought against them.


For I {\i know} their works and their thoughts: {\i the time} cometh, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and shall see my glory.


He that killeth an ox is as he that slayeth a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as he that breaketh a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, {\i as he that offereth} swine's blood; he that burneth frankincense, as he that blesseth an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations:


I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did that which was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delighted not.\par


But they say, It is in vain; for we will walk after our own devices, and we will do every one after the stubbornness of his evil heart.\par


At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of Jehovah; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of Jehovah, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.


O Jerusalem, wash thy heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thine evil thoughts lodge within thee?


But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.


But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in {\i their own} counsels {\i and} in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.


and it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of Jehovah, and do them; and that ye follow not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to play the harlot;


For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings:


O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

But as to Israel he saith, {\b All the day long did I spread out my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.}\par


but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;


and it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry.


For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah; and how much more after my death?


Remember, forget thou not, how thou provokedst Jehovah thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou wentest forth out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah.
