And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the assembly of Israel: and all the assembly of Israel stood.


Blessed be Jehovah, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant.


And he burnt the house of Jehovah, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burnt he with fire.


And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.


And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel, who spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hands fulfilled it, saying,


And all the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the glory of Jehovah was upon the house; and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and gave thanks unto Jehovah, {\i saying}, For he is good; for his lovingkindness {\i endureth} for ever.\par


And the priests stood, according to their offices; the Levites also with instruments of music of Jehovah, which David the king had made to give thanks unto Jehovah, (for his lovingkindness {\i endureth} for ever), when David praised by their ministry: and the priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood.


Thy holy people possessed {\i it} but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.


And he burned the house of Jehovah, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burned he with fire.


Jerusalem remembereth in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her pleasant things that were from the days of old:\par\tab When her people fell into the hand of the adversary, and none did help her,\par\tab The adversaries saw her, they did mock at her desolations.


How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger!\par\tab He hath cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel,\par\tab And hath not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.


The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary;\par\tab He hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces:\par\tab They have made a noise in the house of Jehovah, as in the day of a solemn assembly.


Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left behind shall fall by the sword.


And thou, son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their heart, their sons and their daughters,


Then the angel of Jehovah answered and said, O Jehovah of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?


But he answered and said unto them, {\cf6 See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.}\par


and that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which Jehovah overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
