And the thing which he did was evil in the sight of Jehovah: and he slew him also.


And when the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased Jehovah.


Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man and what his talk was.


Howbeit Jehovah would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children alway.\par


For there is no faithfulness in their mouth;\par\tab Their inward part is very wickedness;\par\tab Their throat is an open sepulchre;\par\tab They flatter with their tongue.


How is the faithful city become a harlot! she that was full of justice! righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.


to turn aside the needy from justice, and to rob the poor of my people of their right, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!


that make a man an offender in {\i his} cause, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just with a thing of nought.\par


And the instruments of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the meek with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.


Hearken unto me, ye stout-hearted, that are far from righteousness:


Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah; who swear by the name of Jehovah, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness


that justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!\par


None sueth in righteousness, and none pleadeth in truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.


I will destine you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter; because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but ye did that which was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delighted not.\par


I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did that which was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delighted not.\par


Jehovah hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Jehovah, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in the stocks and in shackles.


And thou shalt say unto them, This is the nation that hath not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, nor received instruction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.\par


To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.


The days of visitation are come, the days of recompense are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the man that hath the spirit is mad, for the abundance of thine iniquity, and because the enmity is great.


They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.


The godly man is perished out of the earth, and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.


And when his friends heard it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.


And many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why hear ye him?


The Jews said unto him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and thou sayest, {\cf6 If a man keep my word, he shall never taste of death.}


And as he thus made his defence, Festus saith with a loud voice, Paul, thou art mad; thy much learning is turning thee mad.


But Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,


And when many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him:


Even as it is written,\par\tab {\b For thy sake we are killed all the day long;\par\tab We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.}


For whether we are beside ourselves, it is unto God; or whether we are of sober mind, it is unto you.
