And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, {\i saying}, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves.


They have gaped upon me with their mouth;\par\tab They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully:\par\tab They gather themselves together against me.


They abhor me, they stand aloof from me,\par\tab And spare not to spit in my face.


The plowers plowed upon my back;\par\tab They made long their furrows.


Because for thy sake I have borne reproach;\par\tab Shame hath covered my face.


I am become a stranger unto my brethren,\par\tab And an alien unto my mother's children.
