They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man,\par\tab And are at their wits' end.


Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler;\par\tab And whosoever erreth thereby is not wise.


They that tarry long at the wine;\par\tab They that go to seek out mixed wine.


Happy art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!


Jehovah hath mingled a spirit of perverseness in the midst of her; and they have caused Egypt to go astray in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.


and behold, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine: let us eat and drink, for to-morrow we shall die.


And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest to him.


The earth shall stagger like a drunken man, and shall sway to and fro like a hammock; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it, and it shall fall, and not rise again.\par


Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of his glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley of them that are overcome with wine!


And all vision is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee; and he saith, I cannot, for it is sealed:


As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they that lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.\par


Thy first father sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.


Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that tarry late into the night, till wine inflame them!


Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink;


that justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!\par


Then Jehovah said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name; I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake I unto them: they prophesy unto you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their own heart.


And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.


Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they teach you vanity; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Jehovah.


He hath bent his bow like an enemy, he hath stood with his right hand as an adversary,\par\tab And hath slain all that were pleasant to the eye:\par\tab In the tent of the daughter of Zion he hath poured out his wrath like fire.


Have ye not seen a false vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, in that ye say, Jehovah saith; albeit I have not spoken?\par


Neither shall any of the priests drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.


On the day of our king the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine; he stretched out his hand with scoffers.


If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood do lie, {\i saying}, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.\par


Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink, {\i to thee} that addest thy venom, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!


Thou art filled with shame, and not glory: drink thou also, and be as one uncircumcised; the cup of Jehovah's right hand shall come round unto thee, and foul shame shall be upon thy glory.


But immediately after the tribulation of those days {\b the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall} from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:


But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare:


Even so ought husbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his own wife loveth himself:
