For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little.\par


We grope for the wall like the blind; yea, we grope as they that have no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the twilight; among them that are lusty we are as dead men.


Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are {\i as} the light that goeth forth.


I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing.


And unto them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith,\par\tab {\b By hearing ye shall hear, and shall in no wise understand;\par\tab And seeing ye shall see, and shall in no wise perceive:}


And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.}

to the one a savor from death unto death; to the other a savor from life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?


as also in all the epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as {\i they do} also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
