For calamity from God is a terror to me,\par\tab And by reason of his majesty I can do nothing.\par


Hide them in the dust together;\par\tab Bind their faces in the hidden {\i place}.


To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts,\par\tab And the glory of the majesty of his kingdom.


Who knoweth the power of thine anger,\par\tab And thy wrath according to the fear that is due unto thee?


And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?


And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst thereof, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth {\i his hands} to swim; but {\i Jehovah} will lay low his pride together with the craft of his hands.


But this is a people robbed and plundered; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison-houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.\par


But Jehovah is the true God; he is the living God, and an everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembleth, and the nations are not able to abide his indignation.\par


Who should not fear thee, O King of the nations? for to thee doth it appertain; forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their royal estate, there is none like unto thee.


Thus saith Jehovah, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.


The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.\par


Thou also shalt be drunken; thou shalt be hid; thou also shalt seek a stronghold because of the enemy.


But I will warn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, who after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.


Then shall they begin {\b to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.}


who shall suffer punishment, {\i even} eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
