{\i As} the waters fail from the sea,\par\tab And the river wasteth and drieth up;


For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate; for the grass is withered away, the tender grass faileth, there is no green thing.


He hath stretched out his hand over the sea, he hath shaken the kingdoms: Jehovah hath given commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strongholds thereof.


I have digged and drunk water, and with the sole of my feet will I dry up all the rivers of Egypt.\par


Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink, because there is no water, and die for thirst.


Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her fountain dry.


And I will make the rivers dry, and will sell the land into the hand of evil men; and I will make the land desolate, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I, Jehovah, have spoken it.\par


And he will pass through the sea of affliction, and will smite the waves in the sea, and all the depths of the Nile shall dry up; and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the sceptre of Egypt shall depart.


And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, neither {\i shall it be} upon them; there shall be the plague wherewith Jehovah will smite the nations that go not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
