And he made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, that were not of the sons of Levi.


And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.


Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.


And he built towers in the wilderness, and hewed out many cisterns, for he had much cattle; in the lowland also, and in the plain: {\i and he had} husbandmen and vinedressers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved husbandry.


Moreover he built cities in the hill-country of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.


They forgat God their Saviour,\par\tab Who had done great things in Egypt,


Oh come, let us worship and bow down;\par\tab Let us kneel before Jehovah our Maker:


For thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength; therefore thou plantest pleasant plants, and settest it with strange slips.


But when he seeth his children, the work of my hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name; yea, they shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall stand in awe of the God of Israel.


Jehovah will go forth as a mighty man; he will stir up {\i his} zeal like a man of war: he will cry, yea, he will shout aloud; he will do mightily against his enemies.\par


Therefore he poured upon him the fierceness of his anger, and the strength of battle; and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.\par

Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.


that think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers forgat my name for Baal.


A voice is heard upon the bare heights, the weeping {\i and} the supplications of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Jehovah their God.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.\par


According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted: therefore have they forgotten me.


And I will visit upon her the days of the Baalim, unto which she burned incense, when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith Jehovah.\par

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.\par


Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, And hast forgotten God that gave thee birth.
