And it repented Jehovah that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.


He hath not dealt so with any nation;\par\tab And as for his ordinances, they have not known them.\par\tab Praise ye Jehovah.


That thy way may be known upon earth,\par\tab Thy salvation among all nations.


How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness,\par\tab And grieve him in the desert!


And might not be as their fathers,\par\tab A stubborn and rebellious generation,\par\tab A generation that set not their heart aright,\par\tab And whose spirit was not stedfast with God.


Forty years long was I grieved with {\i that} generation,\par\tab And said, It is a people that do err in their heart,\par\tab And they have not known my ways:


And even these reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they stagger with strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.


But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, {\i and} himself fought against them.


For my people are foolish, they know me not; they are sottish children, and they have no understanding; they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.\par


My people ask counsel at their stock, and their staff declareth unto them; for the spirit of whoredom hath caused them to err, and they have played the harlot, {\i departing} from under their God.


And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation concerning the two brethren.


And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their heart, he saith unto the man, {\cf6 Stretch forth thy hand.} And he stretched it forth; and his hand was restored.


But because I say the truth, ye believe me not.


And even as they refused to have God in {\i their} knowledge, God gave them up unto a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;


But if the truth of God through my lie abounded unto his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?


And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.


Take heed, brethren, lest haply there shall be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God:


And they put away the foreign gods from among them, and served Jehovah; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
