For though Jehovah is high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly;\par\tab But the haughty he knoweth from afar.


Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler;\par\tab And whosoever erreth thereby is not wise.


The proud and haughty man, scoffer is his name;\par\tab He worketh in the arrogance of pride.


Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied;\par\tab And the eyes of man are never satisfied.


He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance, with increase: this also is vanity.


that smote the peoples in wrath with a continual stroke, that ruled the nations in anger, with a persecution that none restrained.


We have heard of the pride of Moab, {\i that} he is very proud; even of his arrogancy, and his pride, and his wrath; his boastings are nought.


And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.


They prepare the table, they set the watch, they eat, they drink: rise up, ye princes, anoint the shield.


Therefore Sheol hath enlarged its desire, and opened its mouth without measure; and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth among them, descend {\i into it}.


Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no room, and ye be made to dwell alone in the midst of the land!

When they are heated, I will make their feast, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith Jehovah.


He taketh up all of them with the angle, he catcheth them in his net, and gathereth them in his drag: therefore he rejoiceth and is glad.


Shall he therefore empty his net, and spare not to slay the nations continually?\par


Behold, his soul is puffed up, it is not upright in him; but the righteous shall live by his faith.


and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your hands, even as we charged you;


But he giveth more grace. Wherefore {\i the scripture} saith, {\b God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.}
