And he said, Blessed be Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham, who hath not forsaken his lovingkindness and his truth toward my master: as for me, Jehovah hath led me in the way to the house of my master's brethren.


And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.


And the words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah; and she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.


And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the field of Edom.


Then Jacob was greatly afraid and was distressed: and he divided the people that were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;


And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.


Then David the king went in, and sat before Jehovah; and he said, Who am I, O Lord Jehovah, and what is my house, that thou hast brought me thus far?


Redeem me from the oppression of man:\par\tab So will I observe thy precepts.


Attend unto my cry;\par\tab For I am brought very low:\par\tab Deliver me from my persecutors;\par\tab For they are stronger than I.


{\b Michtam of David.}\par\par\tab Preserve me, O God; for in thee do I take refuge.


Oh keep my soul, and deliver me:\par\tab Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in thee.


Bow down thine ear unto me; deliver me speedily:\par\tab Be thou to me a strong rock,\par\tab A house of defence to save me.


Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation:\par\tab Oh deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil {\i one}.


If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:


And they cried unto Jehovah, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken Jehovah, and have served the Baalim and the Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.


Jehovah therefore be judge, and give sentence between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thy hand.
