And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan.


I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.


And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, old and full of days: and Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.


but when I sleep with my fathers, thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burying-place. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.


And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,


There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah—


for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, for a possession of a burying-place, of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre.


Now David was old and full of days; and he made Solomon his son king over Israel.


And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honor: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.


Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof. And they brought back word to the king.\par


He maketh a path to shine after him;\par\tab One would think the deep to be hoary.


So Job died, being old and full of days.\par


Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age,\par\tab Like as a shock of grain cometh in in its season.


Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright;\par\tab For there is a {\i happy} end to the man of peace.


He shall go to the generation of his fathers;\par\tab They shall never see the light.


and the dust returneth to the earth as it was, and the spirit returneth unto God who gave it.


If a man beget a hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul be not filled with good, and moreover he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he:


But go thou thy way till the end be; for thou shalt rest, and shalt stand in thy lot, at the end of the days.\par


Aaron shall be gathered unto his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.


And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered;


{\b I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob}? God is not {\i the God} of the dead, but of the living.}


For David, after he had in his own generation served the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:


And Jehovah said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and play the harlot after the strange gods of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.


And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, that knew not Jehovah, nor yet the work which he had wrought for Israel.
