O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee;


And he did that which was evil, because he set not his heart to seek Jehovah.\par


Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast put away the Asheroth out of the land, and hast set thy heart to seek God.\par


And Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that had good understanding {\i in the service} of Jehovah. So they did eat throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace-offerings, and making confession to Jehovah, the God of their fathers.\par


Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of the commandments of Jehovah, and of his statutes to Israel:


And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God that is in thy hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people that are beyond the River, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye him that knoweth them not.


this Ezra went up from Babylon. And he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which Jehovah, the God of Israel, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of Jehovah his God upon him.


If thou set thy heart aright,\par\tab And stretch out thy hands toward him;


But his delight is in the law of Jehovah;\par\tab And on his law doth he meditate day and night.


Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek:\par\tab Thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear;


I have inclined my heart to perform thy statutes\par\tab For ever, even unto the end.\par


And I shall walk at liberty;\par\tab For I have sought thy precepts.


The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul:\par\tab The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple.


My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed:\par\tab I will sing, yea, I will sing praises.


For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of Jehovah of hosts.


Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.


Every one therefore that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them, shall be likened unto a wise man, who built his house upon the rock:


If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.


The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to teach,


And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes.


They shall teach Jacob thine ordinances, And Israel thy law: They shall put incense before thee, And whole burnt-offering upon thine altar.


The bishop therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, orderly, given to hospitality, apt to teach;


preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.


But speak thou the things which befit the sound doctrine:


These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise thee.\par


Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.


And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto Jehovah with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you, and direct your hearts unto Jehovah, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
