What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him,\par\tab And that thou shouldest set thy mind upon him,


Trust not in oppression,\par\tab And become not vain in robbery:\par\tab If riches increase, set not your heart {\i thereon}.


And the magicians of Egypt did in like manner with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as Jehovah had spoken.


And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.


He that feared the word of Jehovah among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:


and he that regarded not the word of Jehovah left his servants and his cattle in the field.


Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise,\par\tab And apply thy heart unto my knowledge.


Then I beheld, and considered well;\par\tab I saw, and received instruction:


Happy is the man that feareth alway;\par\tab But he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.


He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck\par\tab Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy


Jehovah, thy hand is lifted up, yet they see not: but they shall see {\i thy} zeal for the people, and be put to shame; yea, fire shall devour thine adversaries.


And thou saidst, I shall be mistress for ever; so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end thereof.\par


And they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.


O Jehovah, do not thine eyes look upon truth? thou hast stricken them, but they were not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.\par


And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thy heart upon all that I shall show thee; for, to the intent that I may show them unto thee, art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.\par


Behold ye among the nations, and look, and wonder marvellously; for I am working a work in your days, which ye will not believe though it be told you.


If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, then will I send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.


And he said unto them, Set your heart unto all the words which I testify unto you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, even all the words of this law.


And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast brought forth a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.
