He that putteth not out his money to interest,\par\tab Nor taketh reward against the innocent.\par\tab He that doeth these things shall never be moved.\par


In whose hands is wickedness,\par\tab And their right hand is full of bribes.


He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house;\par\tab But he that hateth bribes shall live.


A wicked man receiveth a bribe out of the bosom,\par\tab To pervert the ways of justice.


A bribe is {\i as} a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it;\par\tab Whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.


Wealth addeth many friends;\par\tab But the poor is separated from his friend.


Surely extortion maketh the wise man foolish; and a bribe destroyeth the understanding.\par


Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; new moon and sabbath, the calling of assemblies,—I cannot away with iniquity and the solemn meeting.


Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves; every one loveth bribes, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.\par


He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from taking a bribe, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from looking upon evil:


Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink;


that justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!\par


In thee have they taken bribes to shed blood; thou hast taken interest and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbors by oppression, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord Jehovah.\par


Their drink is become sour; they play the harlot continually; her rulers dearly love shame.


For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins—ye that afflict the just, that take a bribe, and that turn aside the needy in the gate {\i from their right}.


Their hands are upon that which is evil to do it diligently; the prince asketh, and the judge {\i is ready} for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth the evil desire of his soul: thus they weave it together.


For Jehovah your God, he is God of gods, and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the terrible, who regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward.


Thou shalt not wrest justice: thou shalt not respect persons; neither shalt thou take a bribe; for a bribe doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.


Here I am: witness against me before Jehovah, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I taken a ransom to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you.


And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted justice.
