Thou gavest also thy good Spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.


They asked, and he brought quails,\par\tab And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.


And he rained down manna upon them to eat,\par\tab And gave them food from heaven.


And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.


And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omerful of manna therein, and lay it up before Jehovah, to be kept throughout your generations.


Then said Jehovah unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or not.


Come, eat ye of my bread,\par\tab And drink of the wine which I have mingled.


And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.


For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: but your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.


Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.


This is the bread which came down out of heaven: not as the fathers ate, and died; he that eateth this bread shall live for ever.}


and did all eat the same spiritual food;


who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not; that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end:


And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by everything that proceedeth out of the mouth of Jehovah doth man live.
