Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath, on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

Michtam; when he fled from Saul, in the cave.}\par\par\tab Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me;\par\tab For my soul taketh refuge in thee:\par\tab Yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I take refuge,\par\tab Until {\i these} calamities be overpast.


Riches profit not in the day of wrath;\par\tab But righteousness delivereth from death.


The poor is hated even of his own neighbor;\par\tab But the rich hath many friends.


Discretion shall watch over thee;\par\tab Understanding shall keep thee:


He layeth up sound wisdom for the upright;\par\tab {\i He is} a shield to them that walk in integrity;


She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her:\par\tab And happy is every one that retaineth her.


For whoso findeth me findeth life,\par\tab And shall obtain favor of Jehovah.


For by me thy days shall be multiplied,\par\tab And the years of thy life shall be increased.


A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh glad the life; and money answereth all things.


Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.


Wisdom is a strength to the wise man more than ten rulers that are in a city.


Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.


Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroyeth much good.\par

Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,


And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and take refuge in my shade; and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
