Wherefore hidest thou thy face,\par\tab And holdest me for thine enemy?


Thine arrows are sharp;\par\tab The peoples fall under thee;\par\tab {\i They are} in the heart of the king's enemies.


Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:\par\tab A sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom.


That thou mayest crush {\i them}, {\i dipping} thy foot in blood,\par\tab That the tongue of thy dogs may have its portion from {\i thine} enemies.


For my sword hath drunk its fill in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.


Destroyers are come upon all the bare heights in the wilderness; for the sword of Jehovah devoureth from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh hath peace.


And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against Jehovah our God?


All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not: for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of thine iniquity, because thy sins were increased.


For that day is {\i a day} of the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, hath a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates.
