And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,


Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee;\par\tab And thou shalt pay thy vows.


I will pay my vows unto Jehovah,\par\tab Yea, in the presence of all his people,


He that putteth not out his money to interest,\par\tab Nor taketh reward against the innocent.\par\tab He that doeth these things shall never be moved.\par


Offer unto God the sacrifice of thanksgiving;\par\tab And pay thy vows unto the Most High;


Thy vows are upon me, O God:\par\tab I will render thank-offerings unto thee.


So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever,\par\tab That I may daily perform my vows.\par


Vow, and pay unto Jehovah your God:\par\tab Let all that are round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.


and my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.


he that hath not given forth upon interest, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true justice between man and man,


Then the men feared Jehovah exceedingly; and they offered a sacrifice unto Jehovah, and made vows.\par


But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving;\par\tab I will pay that which I have vowed.\par\tab Salvation is of Jehovah.


Behold, upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! Keep thy feasts, O Judah, perform thy vows; for the wicked one shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.\par


Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, {\b Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths}:


and the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.


Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it: but whatsoever of thine is with thy brother thy hand shall release.


Thou shalt not bring the hire of a harlot, or the wages of a dog, into the house of Jehovah thy God for any vow: for even both these are an abomination unto Jehovah thy God.


But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.


So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, And Jehovah will require it at the hand of David's enemies.
