Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.


What is man, that he should be clean?\par\tab And he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?


How then can man be just with God?\par\tab Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?


The kings of the earth set themselves,\par\tab And the rulers take counsel together,\par\tab Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, {\i saying},


Yet I have set my king\par\tab Upon my holy hill of Zion.


Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness:\par\tab Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee\par\tab With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.


Hast thou not heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? now have I brought it to pass, that it should be thine to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.


Thus saith Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, {\i and} his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of Jehovah that is faithful, {\i even} the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.\par


He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we esteemed him not.\par


The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening {\i of the prison} to them that are bound;


At that season Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,


For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.


But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod.


But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to-day in the vineyard.


O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!


and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered {\i him} up to Pilate the governor.\par


{\i saying}, {\cf6 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles:


In like manner also the chief priests mocking {\i him} among themselves with the scribes said, He saved others; himself he cannot save.


And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee: wherefore also the holy thing which is begotten shall be called the Son of God.


And the men that held {\i Jesus} mocked him, and beat him.


And the whole company of them rose up, and brought him before Pilate.

saying, {\cf6 The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.}


He came unto his own, and they that were his own received him not.


say ye of him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am {\i the} Son of God?


They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium: and it was early; and they themselves entered not into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.


Pilate therefore went out unto them, and saith, What accusation bring ye against this man?


howbeit one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and straightway there came out blood and water.


{\i even} Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.


{\b Because thou wilt not leave my soul unto Hades,\par\tab Neither wilt thou give thy Holy One to see corruption.}


while thy stretchest forth thy hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of thy holy Servant Jesus.


For such a high priest also became us, holy, guileless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
