After these things the word of Jehovah came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.


As for God, his way is perfect: The word of Jehovah is tried; He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.


Jehovah liveth; And blessed be my rock; And exalted be God, the rock of my salvation,


And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: Yea, thou liftest me up above them that rise up against me; Thou deliverest me from the violent man.


Great deliverance giveth he to his king, And showeth lovingkindness to his anointed, To David and to his seed, for evermore.


The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spake to me: One that ruleth over men righteously, That ruleth in the fear of God,


Ye put to shame the counsel of the poor,\par\tab Because Jehovah is his refuge.


{\b For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.}\par\par\tab Deliver me, O Jehovah, from the evil man;\par\tab Preserve me from the violent man:


An evil speaker shall not be established in the earth:\par\tab Evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.


Keep me, O Jehovah, from the hands of the wicked;\par\tab Preserve me from the violent man:\par\tab Who have purposed to thrust aside my steps.


Look on {\i my} right hand, and see;\par\tab For there is no man that knoweth me:\par\tab Refuge hath failed me;\par\tab No man careth for my soul.

He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence;\par\tab And precious will their blood be in his sight:


For Jehovah God is a sun and a shield:\par\tab Jehovah will give grace and glory;\par\tab No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.


Behold, O God our shield,\par\tab And look upon the face of thine anointed.


O God, the proud are risen up against me,\par\tab And a company of violent men have sought after my soul,\par\tab And have not set thee before them.


And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee;\par\tab For thou, Jehovah, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.


Jehovah also will be a high tower for the oppressed,\par\tab A high tower in times of trouble;


Jehovah is my strength and song, And he is become my salvation: This is my God, and I will praise him; My father's God, and I will exalt him.


The name of Jehovah is a strong tower;\par\tab The righteous runneth into it, and is safe.


Every word of God is tried:\par\tab He is a shield unto them that take refuge in him.


Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for Jehovah, {\i even} Jehovah, is my strength and song; and he is become my salvation.


And a man shall be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest, as streams of water in a dry place, as the shade of a great rock in a weary land.


Declare ye, and bring {\i it} forth; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath showed this from ancient time? who hath declared it of old? have not I, Jehovah? and there is no God else besides me, a just God and a Saviour; there is none besides me.


O Jehovah, my strength, and my stronghold, and my refuge in the day of affliction, unto thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Our fathers have inherited nought but lies, {\i even} vanity and things wherein there is no profit.


For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride.\par


And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.


And hath raised up a horn of salvation for us\par\tab In the house of his servant David


Salvation {\b from our enemies,} and {\b from the hand of all that hate us};


And he will say, Where are their gods, The rock in which they took refuge;


The Rock, his work is perfect; For all his ways are justice: A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, Just and right is he.


Happy art thou, O Israel: Who is like unto thee, a people saved by Jehovah, The shield of thy help, And the sword of thy excellency! And thine enemies shall submit themselves unto thee; And thou shalt tread upon their high places.


But when the kindness of God our Saviour, and his love toward man, appeared,


which he poured out upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour;


And again, {\b I will put my trust in him.} And again, {\b Behold, I and the children whom God hath given me.}


And Hannah prayed, and said: My heart exulteth in Jehovah; My horn is exalted in Jehovah; My mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; Because I rejoice in thy salvation.


There is none holy as Jehovah; For there is none besides thee, Neither is there any rock like our God.
