And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.


it came to pass even so unto him; for the people trod upon him in the gate, and he died.


Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith Jehovah; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith Jehovah. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of Jehovah.


And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.


And when he was come in, he did eat and drink; and he said, See now to this cursed woman, and bury her; for she is a king's daughter.


For in this mountain will the hand of Jehovah rest; and Moab shall be trodden down in his place, even as straw is trodden down in the water of the dung-hill.


The foot shall tread it down; even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.


The Lord hath set at nought all my mighty men in the midst of me;\par\tab He hath called a solemn assembly against me to crush my young men:\par\tab The Lord hath trodden as in a winepress the virgin daughter of Judah.


Then mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her who said unto me, Where is Jehovah thy God? Mine eyes shall see {\i my desire} upon her; now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.


And they shall be as mighty men, treading down {\i their enemies} in the mire of the streets in the battle; and they shall fight, because Jehovah is with them; and the riders on horses shall be confounded.


And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, saith Jehovah of hosts.\par


Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.


of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
