She dealeth hardly with her young ones, as if they were not hers:\par\tab Though her labor be in vain, {\i she is} without fear;


{\b A Song of Ascents; of Solomon.}\par\par\tab Except Jehovah build the house,\par\tab They labor in vain that build it:\par\tab Except Jehovah keep the city,\par\tab The watchman waketh but in vain.


Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart,\par\tab And washed my hands in innocency;


But I said, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nought and vanity; yet surely the justice {\i due} to me is with Jehovah, and my recompense with my God.\par


They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for calamity; for they are the seed of the blessed of Jehovah, and their offspring with them.


Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?


But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not found vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.


by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain.


Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not vain in the Lord.\par


And working together {\i with him} we entreat also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain


And I went up by revelation; and I laid before them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles but privately before them who were of repute, lest by any means I should be running, or had run, in vain.


I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain.\par


holding forth the word of life; that I may have whereof to glory in the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain neither labor in vain.


And for this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when ye received from us the word of the message, {\i even the word} of God, ye accepted {\i it} not {\i as} the word of men, but, as it is in truth, the word of God, which also worketh in you that believe.


For this cause I also, when I could no longer forbear, sent that I might know your faith, lest by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor should be in vain.


when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day.


Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, even as also {\i it is} with you;
