and set two men, base fellows, before him, and let them bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst curse God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him to death.


They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.


And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of Jehovah.


But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men-children alive.


And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them households.


If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood,\par\tab All his servants are wicked.


Many seek the ruler's favor;\par\tab But a man's judgment {\i cometh} from Jehovah.


And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness standeth afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and uprightness cannot enter.


Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment; because he was content to walk after {\i man's} command.


Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty; but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbor.


For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I may make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing: and ye shall bear the reproach of my people.\par


And being warned {\i of God} in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.\par


Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the Wise-men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had exactly learned of the Wise-men.

Now therefore, O king, come down, according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him up into the king's hand.
