From men by thy hand, O Jehovah,\par\tab From men of the world, whose portion is in {\i this} life,\par\tab And whose belly thou fillest with thy treasure:\par\tab They are satisfied with children,\par\tab And leave the rest of their substance to their babes.


Seeing there are many things that increase vanity, what is man the better?


Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of thy life of vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all thy days of vanity: for that is thy portion in life, and in thy labor wherein thou laborest under the sun.


Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all the nations for my name's sake.


But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare:


And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of {\i this} life, and bring no fruit to perfection.


They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God.


These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.}\par


confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.


remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;


For which cause I suffer also these things: yet I am not ashamed; for I know him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that he is able to guard that which I have committed unto him against that day.


No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of {\i this} life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.


Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.


who through him are believers in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.


And I heard a voice from heaven saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them.\par
